Road Safety Training For Youths

The NdiAssam Foundation was honored to participate in a Road Safety Training for Youths, an initiative organized by the Aid for Sustainable Public Health Initiative (ASPHI) with the support of the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) and LEAP Africa in Abuja. This impactful event brought together representatives from youth-led organizations, civil society groups, and key stakeholders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to empower young individuals with essential road safety knowledge and advocacy skills. By engaging youth in meaningful discussions and practical training, the program aimed to create a new generation of road safety champions committed to making Nigerian roads safer for all.

The training focused on educating emerging leaders on the fundamental principles of road safety. Participants were guided through key risk factors contributing to road accidents, as well as the policy frameworks designed to promote safer transportation systems. By equipping youths with this knowledge, the initiative aimed to enhance their ability to advocate for better road policies, infrastructure improvements, and responsible road use within their communities. Additionally, the program emphasized the importance of collective action in reducing road traffic injuries and fatalities, reinforcing the idea that everyone has a role to play in ensuring safer roads.

One of the most critical aspects of the training was the Post-Crash Response Training, which provided attendees with practical emergency response, first aid, and lifesaving techniques. This hands-on session was designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to assist road accident victims before professional medical help arrives. By learning how to provide immediate and effective assistance in emergency situations, participants can help reduce fatalities and improve survival rates following road crashes.

Through this collaboration, the NdiAssam Foundation reaffirms its commitment to youth empowerment and public safety. By participating in initiatives like this, the foundation continues to advocate for community-driven solutions that foster safer roads and responsible driving practices in Nigeria. The event not only strengthened participants’ understanding of road safety but also encouraged them to take active roles in raising awareness and influencing positive change within their local communities.
